Amicus Committee

The Amicus Committee is responsible for assisting the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (“Association) Board of Directors (“Board”) in advancing the Association's judicial advocacy goals and advancing the Association’s policies and agenda. The Committee is charged with reviewing all applications for amicus briefs proposed to be filed in the name of the Association, determining whether proposed briefs meet Association standards, and making recommendations to the Board on whether a proposed brief should be approved for filing.

The Committee reviews requests for amicus support in state and federal appellate courts, recommends filing amicus curiae briefs to the Board, evaluates at what level those briefs should be filed, and identifies individuals to draft briefs to present arguments, perspectives and information consistent with the Association’s mission statement and goals.
