EXAMINING THE SANE EXAM
A Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) is a certification for registered nurses who have completed specialized education and clinical preparation and conduct sexual assault forensic medical examinations of a sexual assault victim. They undertake an examination that is geared toward the collection, preparation, evaluation, and production of evidence in a sexual assault case. This webinar will include a review the scope of the expertise of a SANE, the assessment of a sexual assault patient, and evidence collection. It also will undertake a detailed analysis of the SANE documentation, and the information that should be included in the report. Inconsistencies, taint and other errors and omissions commonly occurring with a SANE forensic medical examination will also be addressed
