In this one-hour webinar, Anjelica Hendricks will start with a fast-paced refresher on the Fourth Amendment fundamentals: stops, probable cause, warrants, and what makes them defective. Then, the webinar shifts to focus to a powerful—and often overlooked—area of advocacy: police misconduct hidden in plain sight. Discover how crucial disciplinary patterns are buried in innocuous documents like training logs and scheduling records, and learn how to craft strategic public records requests that can reveal officer behavior long before trial. Using examples from real cases and research from a forthcoming law review article, Anjelica Hendricks will explore how to integrate this information into bail arguments, preliminary hearings, suppression motions, and more.

Anjelica Hendricks is an assistant professor of Law at the University of Pennsylvania, Carey School of Law. Her academic work draws on her experiences as a Senior Policy Analyst for Philadelphia's Police Advisory Commission where she worked to identify systemic barriers to police accountability, and as a Philadelphia Public Defender, where she represented indigent clients in criminal proceedings. She is a graduate of Washington and Lee University School of Law and James Madison University.
