The Title IX Landscape in Higher Education: Defending Accused College Students and Faculty in Campus Disciplinary Proceedings
The current Title IX regulations have been in place since August 14, 2020. The U.S. Department of Education announced that it will soon propose amendments to the current regulations. Ms. Hamill and Ms. Dakessian will discuss how the regulations have been implemented in higher education practice over the last year and a half as well as the climate on college campuses today in enforcing Title IX, the efforts by many universities to avoid applying the new regulations, considerations for concurrent criminal and subsequent civil cases, and the anticipated amendments to the Title IX regulations promised by the Department of Education. The presenters co-chair Conrad O'Briend's Title IX and Campus Discipline Practice where they have represented more than 300 university students and faculty members.
