Strike For Cause

Get ready for PACDL's exclusive 2 Hour Webinar on September 13 at Noon, where Robert Swafford of Strike for Cause will address the strike for cause jury selection method. Our goal is that the seminar will help private defense counsel and public defenders challenge to become adept at this method.  More specifically,

  1. Understanding the right to strike jurors for cause based on bias, prejudice, or inability to be impartial.
  2. Identifying potential biases in prospective jurors, such as preconceived notions about the defendant, the charges, or the criminal justice system.
  3. Conducting effective voir dire to uncover potential biases or prejudices among prospective jurors, including asking probing questions and actively listening to responses.
  4. Assessing juror responses including evaluating body language, tone of voice, and verbal cues for signs of bias or impartiality.
  5. Making persuasive challenges for cause based on juror biases or inability to be impartial, including presenting evidence and arguments to support the challenge and effectively advocating for the client's interests.
  6. Responding to challenges by opposing counsel including presenting counterarguments, challenging the validity of the opposing counsel's assertions, and advocating for the retention of impartial jurors.

This webinar is approved for 2 substantive, practice, and procedure credit hours by the Pennsylvania CLE Board. PACDL is an accredited distance learning provider in Pennsylvania.
