Board Leadership
Board of Directors
PACDL’s Board of Directors is a dedicated team of criminal defense leaders committed to advancing your growth and success. Working in close partnership with Executive Director, the Board is focused on strong governance and strategic collaboration.
As the Board transitions toward a more governance-centered model, it is shifting day-to-day responsibilities to committees, subcommittees, and task forces—creating more opportunities for members like you to step into meaningful leadership roles and help shape the future of the Association.
The Board's collective core responsibilities include:1. Clarifying the organization's mission and vision.
2. Participating in and approving strategic and policy decisions.
3. Selecting, evaluating, and developing the executive director.
4. Ensuring adequate financial resources.
5. Providing expertise and access for associational needs.
6. Building associational reputation.
7. Overseeing financial and risk management.
8. Monitoring association performance.
9. Improving board performance.
Lead with PACDL
PACDL offers members a range of opportunities to build and showcase their leadership—whether by serving on a committee, writing for For the Defense, or helping plan or present a CLE. Get involved and take your professional growth to the next level, including potential service on our Board of Directors.
Our all-volunteer Board governs PACDL with dedication and integrity. Board members are entrusted with fiduciary responsibilities and are expected to attend meetings, serve on committees, follow Board policies (including our conflict of interest policy), and contribute personally at a level appropriate to their financial means.
Participation in PACDL activities—projects, CLEs, and committees—is a great way to sharpen your leadership skills and prepare for future roles within the Association.
